Alumnae Sisters to Leave Legacy at Susquehanna

Nancy and Sue DavisNancy ’61 and Sue ’66 Davis are not unlike many Susquehanna siblings.

Following Nancy’s graduation with a business degree in 1961, Sue also enrolled at Susquehanna — and also pursued business. Both were active members of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority, furthering their bond of sisterhood.

As alumnae, that connection to each other and to Susquehanna has remained steadfast. Both have been active participants in SU SERVE, the university’s annual day of community service. They have attended Homecoming–Reunion Weekends and other campus and regional events. Sue joined the university’s alumni association board, and, in 2012, she was bestowed with its Service award. Nancy was, of course, there to see her receive her honor.

Nancy’s and Sue’s connection to their alma mater extends beyond events and service opportunities. They have contributed philanthropic gifts to various leadership funds and have frequently supported the Susquehanna University Fund, which allows their generosity to impact the areas of campus where it’s needed most. In 2003, they joined the John App Circle, which recognizes alumni and friends who have made a future gift to Susquehanna through their estate plans or other planned giving arrangements.

That year, the Davis sisters established the Nancy A. Davis ’61 and Sue C. Davis ’66 Scholarship Fund in recognition of the lifelong benefits they received through their Susquehanna education. The scholarship benefits students with financial need who are enrolled in the Sigmund Weis School of Business. It is the Davis sisters’ intent to help provide a contemporary business education to students who may otherwise not afford to do so.

Nancy’s and Sue’s endowed fund will ensure continuous, perpetual financial support for Sigmund Weis School of Business students. Their generosity will enable countless future Susquehannans to find and develop their own lifelong connections to Susquehanna.

"We are always pleased to hear about Susquehanna's excellence in education and are delighted to learn of the impact it continues to have on today’s students," the sister’s say. "We hope that our gift will help continue the university's legacy of an accessible, life-changing education."
